Movie Review: Secret in their Eyes

This is the very first movie gives me the huge impression. From beginning the movies push me whole thinking worlds. Every single moment I have watching the movie, I have tried to look for the answer to why and then what are the reasons behind that actions.

Several years ago a person who I loved one asks me “Do you know why the babies eyes brightening like a twinkle?”. That moment I could not answer the question. He told me there are no secret and thoughts in babies eyes. Just that words graved in my brains. For the movie titled as “Secret in their eyes“, the main action will start from the secret in Isidoro Gómez’s(Javier Godino) eyes. When investigator Benjamín Espósito(Ricardo Darín) looking the albums of hero’s, he finds out Isidoro Gómez’s unrequited love, and suspect him as a murderer. Later on a scene, Irene Hastings (Soledad Villamil) gives the old photo to Benjamin, one of those photo Benjamin staring at her. Every time he saw the Irene his eyes were sparkling. I have fully agreed on the quotes of Benjamin

“The eyes speak … speak for nothing, better to shut up”.

In Mongolian proverbs, “Eyes are the mirror of our spirits”. Also, Sandoval (Guillermo Francella) is Benjamin’s alcoholic assistant in the investigation, find out the ways how to capture the murderer, his famous quote is

“A man can change anything: his face, his family, his girlfriend, his religion, his God. But there’s something a man can’t change. A man can’t change his passion.”

It is only this words touches my heart. Then they went a soccer stadium, easy to find out him. It is obvious scene, but I have just wondered how it could have been filmed.

For the Ricardo Morales (Pablo Rago) shows the pure loves but finally, he turns into an avenger. His life would be full of nothing. Now my imagination is led to thinking about “How do humans manage to live an empty life, how do Morales live a life full of nothing?” just like Benjamin said.

For the ending scenes, Gomes said

“Please … Tell him … Tell him to at least talk to me.”

It was the only answer to how Morales could it? Now I have totally understood that meaning of the word like “Forgiveness doesn’t excuse their behavior. FORGIVENESS prevents their behavior from destroying your hearts”

Finally, I fully admire the ability of Juan Jose Campanella, writer, and director of the “Secret in their eyes” and wondered how could write such an extremely well-organized movie like this. This is a real movie, someone finds deep impression. In additionally, I would like to express my own gratitude for a small community at Beijing Normal University‘s “Underground film lovers” club suggests me to watch that film.
